Pediatric Nurse Practitioners are health care providers who have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and two to three years advanced training in pediatrics. Pediatric Nurse Practitioners have a Master’s Degree in child health. Our PNPs are Missy Nicholson and Leigh Gistinger. Continual training in child development make PNPs an excellent choice for well exams and behavior counseling. We are privileged to have PNPs as part of our medical team and encourage you to utilize them as you feel comfortable. |
A PNP is qualified to perform a majority of general pediatric duties previously reserved for physicians. PNPs are trained to obtain health histories, perform physical examinations, order and interpret lab and diagnostic studies, diagnose health problems and develop treatment plans. Providing health education and counseling on an array of childhood issues is also an integral part of a PNP’s role. PNPs in Texas work in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals to provide optimal care for your child. |
